Designed in a classic spirit, they offer unparalleled sound. No unnecessary complications in a PrimaLuna, just musicality and ease of use thanks in particular to its Adaptive AutoBias reducing distortion. The assembly of the paired tubes is not essential when replacing them.

The Prologue and Dialogue ranges are equipped with the legendary EL 34 lamps but are also compatible with the more powerful KT88 thanks to a switch. Toroid Power Transformer

Power transformers generate two types of noise, magnetic and acoustic. This is why toroidal power transformers are used in the best audio products. Compared to standard transformers, toroids emit about 1/10 of the magnetic field that pollutes music and obscures details. Additionally, the lack of an air gap typically means that the toroids have an 8:1 reduction in acoustic noise. As transformers are the most expensive components of any audio product, manufacturers will even house cheaper C-core and EI-core transformers in an outboard power box with an umbilical cable rather than upgrading to an expensive toroid . The increase in cost is significant, but PrimaLuna doesn't cut corners. All PrimaLuna products use massive toroidal pot transformers.

Super Wideband Output Transformers

The output transformers are the most important part of any tube amp. They determine the depth of the bass and the height of the top. 250 W of power will have no upper and lower extension if the output transformers do not have the bandwidth. We use lower power to extend tube life and bandwidth to give you slam. Transformers are the most expensive components in an amplifier, so manufacturers save money by using "off-the-shelf" units available on the market.

Adaptive autobias

What most companies call Auto Bias is actually "Cathode Bias" - A commonly used method, inexpensive to manufacture, and often found in guitar amps, but also in high-end audio amps. It reduces the amp's available power and runs the tubes hard, meaning shorter life and failures via "short circuits". Not to do !

PrimaLuna's Adaptive AutoBias is truly intelligent technology that uses a range of sensors to monitor tubes and make adjustments seamlessly in real time. Most importantly, it is the ONLY circuit of its type that is truly "adaptive" in addressing "tube pinch" at higher volumes, reducing distortion by over 50% and significantly extending the life of the tube .

Point-to-point cabling

You invest in interconnections. So why does the signal go straight from RCA jacks or speaker terminals to circuit boards with copper traces so thin you can barely see them.

PrimaLuna uses point-to-point cabling on all of its products. The entire signal path, including resistors and capacitors, is painstakingly hand-wired by an expert technician with heavy gauge cable.

The EVO 300 and EVO 400 use Swiss-made, silver-plated, oxygen-free continuous crystal copper (OCC) with a Teflon dielectric in the critical signal path for superior signal speed and increased clarity.
