Yamaha is a Japanese conglomerate operating in many fields, including musical instruments (its primary business), motorcycles, snowmobiles, watercraft, engines, integrated circuits and consumer electronics. It was founded in 1887 by an organ watchmaker, Torakusu Yamaha, but diversified after World War II. It has since become a multinational specializing in audio video for the home.

Design
The mechanical grounding concept adopted in the A-S2200 maximizes rigidity and reduces any unwanted vibration, achieving expressive and rhythmic bass. Greater rigidity is achieved with the large power transformer, block capacitors and radiators directly bolted to the chassis while the legs, with bolts directly welded to the main chassis, provide additional reinforcement for absolute rigidity.
