Polk Audio was founded by Matthew Polk, George Klopfer and Sandy Gross in 1972. Polk Audio is an American audio manufacturer best known for its home and automobile speakers. The company's headquarters is located in San Diego, California.
Polk's newly patented X-Port technology
Polk incorporates an Eigentone filter (ETF) for distortion-free bass. It consists of closed-pipe absorbers specially designed to capture and remove the distortions of conventional speakers. With X-Port technology, the upper bass and midrange exhibit no resonance from the port or cabinet, for smooth, detailed sound.
Turbine Membrane
Polk developed the Turbine membrane specifically for its high-end products to ensure natural reproduction of the midrange, to which human ears are particularly sensitive. The Turbine membrane combines Polk's proprietary foam core and Turbine-style molded geometry, which significantly increases stiffness and damping without adding additional mass.
Tweet Pinnacle
More than 40 years of innovation, design and prototypes are behind the development of the new Pinnacle 1" High Definition tweeter with ring radiator. Developed by Polk Audio, it delivers ultra clear and precise highs, without colorations or distortions The Pinnacle tweeter has a finely optimized waveguide which considerably improves the dispersion of energy in high frequencies, thus ensuring a large “sweet spot” (ideal listening area). The rear part, largely damped, helps eliminate unwanted resonances. “Hi-Res” certified, the Pinnacle tweeter is designed for both traditional two-channel music listening, and multi-channel 3D audio found in movies , sports broadcasts and video game soundtracks.
