Why is Prima Luna different?
Prima Luna is at the origin of numerous technological innovations in a redefinition of the tube amplifier, from improving the reliability and lifespan of tubes, to a unique sound signature.
Listening to or buying tube electronics is a process that is most often based on a compromise. The choice is assumed but the user knows what he gains and what he loses in comparison with other technologies. When an audiophile aims for mono or single ended triode electronics, he knows the inherent limitations such as low power, reduced bandwidth, high distortion, heat dissipation, optimal tube life. Obviously, to a lesser extent the choice of tube electronics operating in ultra linear mode (non-triode) presents the same limitations. The choice of tube electronics is therefore dictated by the type of restitution expected, a warm restitution, rich in material and density accompanied by second harmonic distortions rather pleasant to the ear.

Created in 2003 in the Netherlands by Herman van den Dungen, PrimaLuna quickly built a global reputation for its tube amplifiers with exceptional value for money.
Designed in a classic spirit, they offer unparalleled sound. No unnecessary complications in a PrimaLuna, just musicality and ease of use thanks in particular to its Adaptive AutoBias reducing distortion. The assembly of the paired tubes is not essential when replacing them.
The Prologue and Dialogue ranges are equipped with the legendary EL 34 lamps but are also compatible with the more powerful KT88 thanks to a switch. Praised by European and American critics, such as the renowned magazine The Absolute Sound which awarded 7 âEditor's Choice Awardsâ to PrimaLuna, an unprecedented number.

By incorporating a low-noise mini-triode vacuum tube into a digital clock "DAC", this bold design delivers dramatically higher resolution, detail recovery, enhanced clarity, increased definition and detail from top to bottom .
Premium Parts
Premium quality parts including polypropylene coupling caps, triple pi power filters, custom designed isolation transformers that separate analog and digital devices resulting in reduced signal degradation and better sound from top to bottom. Many DACs weigh ten pounds or less. The Tube EVO 100 DAC weighs almost 35 pounds!
Point-to-point cabling
You invest in interconnections. So why does the signal go straight from RCA jacks or speaker terminals to circuit boards with copper traces so thin you can barely see them.
PrimaLuna uses point-to-point cabling on all of its products. The entire signal path, including resistors and capacitors, is painstakingly hand-wired by an expert technician with heavy gauge cable.
Mono dual topology
Dedicated tubes per channel. While it's nice to use a single tube as a buffer for both channels and pretend your DAC is a "tube", it can't compare to the PrimaLuna design and what it does for music.
Rectified vacuum tube
The vacuum tube rectified power supply includes eleven separate power regulation circuits. Tube rectification is synonymous with organic sound, especially when compared to DACs that sound like âa computer.â
